I am an educator based in Brooklyn with eight years of experience. After completing my BA in Political Science at University of Pennsylvania, I completed an MS in ED at Brooklyn College. I’ve worked in a variety of private and public schools, with students ranging in age from 2 – 18 years. Much of my experience is with young children, from 2 – 8 years. For two years I taught and ran a small cooperative preschool, using an emergent curriculum.
My expertise and favorite discipline is literacy. I relish finding creative ways to teach a lesson, including puppetry, word games, visual art, dancing, and scientific exploration. Besides offering me an outlet for creativity in teaching, I enjoy the satisfaction of achieving specific goals that come with one-to-one tutoring.
In addition to traditional education, I’ve tutored adults in test preparation and English as a Second Language. Recently I began work with an educational non-profit with a mission of bringing gardens into public schools. I lead an afterschool Garden Club once per week and instruct students on the basics of urban farming. Overall, I enjoy designing lessons to best fit the students’ learning styles and look forward to the unique perspective each student brings to her learning experience.
