My name is Rob and I am a graduate of Berklee College of Music in Boston. I majored in Composition and Production. I can help you hone your writing skills by focusing on areas such as counterpoint, theory and tonal harmony. I have experience writing for many styles, from pop music to classical and everything in between. I can also help out with some light ear training and transcription practices.

I am also proficient in the process of recording, editing and mixing your own music. If a student is interested in getting a recording of their work, I have the resources to make that happen.

I hope to help out students who have a passion for music and want to get a firmer grasp on the tools they need to achieve their full potential. Creativity is a wonderful way to express oneself, and my goal is to help you to find your voice so you can share yourself with the world.

Focusing on traditional harmony and counterpoint, the student will learn the fundamental building blocks to grow as a composer. Beyond that, instruction will depend on the direction the student is interested in going. Additional areas of study include, but are not limited to, orchestration, arranging and production.

Music Theory

There are various starting points to this subject, which will vary based upon the students proficiency. The basics include: note identification, spelling out scales, tempo/meter changes and writing skills (freehand notation).
