I started as a tutor for the NYC Department of Education in the Brooklyn area where I helped children in Math and English. I worked for the National Park Service at Gateway as an Interpreter and ambassador of their free summer programs to all, especially to Spanish speaking communities. I graduated with a Minor in Spanish and I will use my stipend educational award from Student Conservation Association Internship to study translation and Interpretation at Hunter College.
I am a native speaker from Lima-Peru and all of my childhood and secondary school life were spent in Peru. I have lived in the U.S.A since 2004 and since then my love for my Spanish roots never flew away. I gained respect for my mother tongue and for this reason I decided to become a tutor: to help others immerse into a new language... ¡Si! I have a good sense of humor and I am patient so it does not matter if you are shy or afraid to ask questions because I will be there for you. I have recently began to tutor graduate students in addition to undergraduate and high school students.
When I am not tutoring I work as an office assistant in the clinic of Brooklyn College and also I work as recreation aid in the Athletics Department of the same university as well. At where there is a very friendly dynamic between coworkers and I. Working in the health care and in the sport field combined have helped me maintain a healthy lifestyle, good for a tutor who want to transmit their knowledge with efficacy.
In the summer of 2013 I worked as an interpreter to Spanish audience by introducing them National Park service free outdoors. This awesome internship allowed me to put my skills to work by encouraging people to know more about the parks. I gave kayaking lessons to people of all ages, ran camping programs, and taught them more about local ecology. At the same time I was part of the Student Conservation Association (SCA) where I earned a educational stipend award for completing the full program with success.
If you wan to know my my hobbies among others they are biking, tennis, monopoly, partying a lot and listen to different types of music.
