In 2011, I began tutoring Math
to native Spanish
children at Champion Learning Center which is located in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, NY.
My Spanish minor GPA of 3.9 from Brooklyn College helped me join the National Park Service as a Spanish Intern Interpreter. I participated in a program called "Your Park! Your Health!. " I was an ambassador for the recreation programs in Brooklyn and Staten Island. Due to a successful completion of my internship, I was appointed to join for the next season as a Lead Intern. When I became an Interpreter Lead intern in 2014, I was involved with the equipment aspect and program planning. My job included a connection with different audiences encouraging them to have active healthy lifestyles through camping, kayaking, biking, and sailing. In addition, I taught ecology
, wildlife and shared educational stories to children, youngsters, and people with disabilities. By the end of August of 2014, I received two educational stipend Americorp awards.
My love passion to serve others continued, so I joined "Rotaract at the United Nations." Rotaract at the United Nations is the only community-based Rotaract program in New York City which is sponsored by Rotary of New York. The core mission of the club is to help children and education. Since I was one of the most active members of the club, I attended a conference called the "Rotary Young Leadership Awards" (RYLA) in 2014 , located in Washington D.C
. At D.C, I networked with Rotarians and Rotaractors from around the world where we were trained on leadership, conflict resolution, communication skills, community and global citizenship by the end of the conference that lasted five days.
Furthermore, I worked as a Spanish interpreter for the NYC Board of Elections during the years of 2012-2014, which consisted of general and primary elections.
I am also a member of the Recreation and Athletics Department at Brooklyn College since 2011. I am currently an Office Assistant/Recreation Aide and Game Crew worker.
For my future endeavors, I goal is to become a Spanish teacher. I will begin my Master's program in Spanish by teaching grades 7-12 at Brooklyn College.
In my free time I like to read, attend social events, and play soccer
