Education is more than "information." Education is repetition, imagination, application, dialogue, discovery, and possibility. I have a natural gift for deconstructing subject material in order to understand, retain, and apply it. The best learning happens when it involves engaging a client in interesting learning and understanding of a subject. I inspire my clients with imagination and curiosity. I demand from my clients through repetition and light challenges. I engage my clients by awakening their skills of closure, allowing them to have moments of discovery. And, I have a naturally genuine and fun demeanor that means my students are safe and in good hands. I use a combination of encouragement and finding the challenge so a student can continue, and want, to grow.

I am an expert and/or proficient in several disciplines including American Sign Language, Acting in Theater and On-Camera, Music Theory and Singing, Photography, and Photoshop. I also have the skills for teaching and enough knowledge to provide tutoring to French I and II level students.

I am also an expert at using Photoshop for the design of 8x10 headshot layouts, business card design, postcard design, and more. I frequently use saturation, desaturation, sharpening, blur, layering, exposure adjustment, highlight and shadow adjustment, rotation of image and elements, transformation of image and elements, feathering, opacity change, and more.

Photography

My training in the visual arts and photography began at Millersville University in Pennsylvania and continued with Institutions and Workshops with professional photographers at Cooper Union, Photo Manhattan, and Adorama. Most recently, I attended a wedding workshop with Doug Gordon or Patken Photography. Since 2007, I have operated a photography service in the New York Metropolitan Area. I provide portraits, headshots, engagement, live event photography and more. This summer, I am attending additional workshops in lighting and photoshop. I have also booked additional headshot jobs and some as an assistant on two separate weddings.

I specialize in Nikon DSLR camera, with some familiarity of Olympus and Canon models. My expertise in DSLR photography is cross-platform, though, and I provide tutoring on many elements of photography including white balance, color balance, aperture/f-stop, shutter speed, ISO, exposure, tonality, the Rule of Thirds, types of lenses, focal length, height of camera, natural v. artificial lighting/flash, engaging clients and people, working in Photoshop, ordering prints, selecting online storage options for clients, and more.

Public Speaking

My education in public speaking includes courses in Public Speaking from Millersville University and Impromptu Speaking from New School University. I have more than seven years practical experience performing for and speaking to (including announcements, introductions, and solicitation) tens to hundreds of thousands of tourists visiting New York City's Ellen's Stardust Diner. Use of repetition, conversation, discovery, closure in order to advance receptive skills, simple and varied homework and more. My style of tutoring is fun and engaging and also encourages imagination and appreciation of the language. My experience in American Sign Language comes study from New School University and LaGuardia Community College and from consistent use with hearing and deaf friends and attending of deaf events. Recently, I began working with a company in Manhattan, where I use sign language with their deaf clients.

I am a graduate of the American Musical and Dramatic Academy NY, where I complete conservatory training in Musical Theare (acting, musical theatre, music theory, dance, singing, and more). I earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theater from New School University. I have years of additional acting and improvisation study from The Second City Training Center Chicago, The Audition Studio Chicago, Actors Connection, One on One NY, and the Magnet Theater.

I am highly passionate about the craft of acting.
