The written word is my passion. Tutoring someone in reading or writing is a unique opportunity for me and the student because of my experience with words. I have been writing fiction, book and film reviews, and essays for seventeen years. I have a book of short stories out and have work in or forthcoming in such prestigious journals as Tin House, The Kenyon Review, and The Mississippi Review. I taught ESL in Heidelberg, Germany for one year and since 2005 I have tutored through 826 NYC.
My method is to look comprehensively at what a student needs in order to provide them with the tools necessary to get a better grasp of the language and express their ideas clearly and concisely. I rely on close readings of the material, as well as studying great writing to helping a student learn the craft better. I very much enjoy helping students write and read better because it is my own means of living. I am happy to share my knowledge of the written word with students, knowing I am helping another to enjoy the vast field of literature, along with being able to convey themselves through the written word.
