I received a BA (2011) in mathematics from Bard College. In addition I also attended a prestigious REU and the New York Academy of Sciences Science and research training program. My preliminary college work was at The University of California Santa Cruz.
I provide lessons that are concise, clear, and correct. A typical lesson/session may include an amount of time spent on reading and an amount of time doing math.
I never charge for a lesson in which the student is not completely satisfied.
In a typical lesson two hours are scheduled; the first is spent doing math and the second is spent doing reading/writing.
As an aside: I use dynamic, non-linear teaching patterns to teach the SAT material. Students gain an analytic, conceptually rich understanding of all topics on the SAT. This includes the tried and true study oriented academic habits, or smart tricks and techniques such as process of elimination and back substitution.
My unique approach to the SAT involves very little memorization. It is not tedious or monotonous.
I can also provide advice and referrals for the type of testing needed to receive extended time on the SAT (time and a half or double time).
I work on both math and reading sections. Some writing practice may also be included.

I took this class at the high school level where the enjoyment began. The trickier topics such as polynomial long division were then covered at the collegiate level algebra classes. There isn't any reason not to master the material...its very much applied.
Using principles and heuristics from experimental and non-experimental chemistry, my tuition of chemistry revolved around a college level introductory chemistry class. The students gain an understanding of scientific units, molecular weight, reactants, reagents, Avogadro's number, anode and cathode and electron orbitals and electron states.

Having studied GED prep texts, I use conventional challenges and examples to carry students towards an understanding of the content material. For my senior year project my adviser (Dr. Ethan Bloch) and I worked on a geometry project. This project brought me to a higher level of understanding of geometry, and also renewed my interest in teaching the subject. During college I tutored geometry to fellow classmates. I tutor using many visual aids.
Precalculus involves the introduction of key concepts such as limits and logarithms. My preparation includes a full litany of classes. I have tutored this subject and its super subjects during college level classes. Students generally present the text they are using. We continue from there.
PSAT practice is dynamic, useful and of value for Merit scholarships. Having achieved a high SAT and PSAT score, my qualification stems from real world results. Students may wish to locate a practice book for study. Concepts are used in measured and unmeasured elaborations on subject material.
