My passion for teaching English is rooted in my own long term, positive experiences with language learning. I speak French and Italian at a moderate level of proficiency and Spanish at a very basic level. The students I currently work with have a variety of goals from securing a job, college acceptance, gaining citizenship or communicating with their child's teachers.
I received my CELTA teaching certificate in September 2011 and my NY State business school teaching permit in February 2012. I teach weekday afternoons at a well know ESL school. My general business knowledge base is founded in my bachelor's degrees in both business and communications, from the University of Connecticut.
For over 10 years, I worked in advertising and specialized in negotiation. My daily work included audit management, presentation development, research and competitive analysis. I am an expert in developing persuasive PowerPoint presentations and effective Excel documents.
I customize teaching sessions to each students' individual needs and learning styles. I believe learning is collaborative and strongly encourage a lot of practice. I expect students to focus during their lessons and to practice or complete assignments between sessions, which will vary depending on the skill and goals of the student. Lessons can be conducted in person or via Skype.
