I'm a graduate of Harvard University and Stuyvesant High School, and I also attended Fieldston and Hunter College High School. I have been a private tutor since 2005 and have guided many students through the often stressful process of standardized testing.

At Harvard, I concentrated in Visual and Environmental Studies and Literature. I'm currently an MFA candidate at the Graduate Film Program at NYU Tisch, and my short films have screened at Sundance, the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM), IFC and Rooftop Films, among many others.

Much of my work has been in prepping students to take the SAT, ACT, ISEE and SSAT. I tutor high school math and science as well, and love to provide assistance in essay writing or other areas of English.

I'm sharing my test scores here. Hopefully they give a sense of my mastery of standardized testing strategy. Of course, the numbers don't tell the whole story, and I think what I really bring to the table is the patience and experience to bring students towards mastery themselves.

Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you!

Drawing

I have studied drawing, painting and sculpture extensively throughout my life and ultimately earned a combined degree in Visual/Environmental Studies (V.E.S.) and Literature from Harvard. Painting was my chosen discipline within V.E.S., and like most painting students I have spent many hours studying drawing as well.

I have great memories of many of the drawing and painting teachers I've had throughout my life and I believe one-on-one tutoring can be incredibly fun and even spiritually nurturing.

Film

I received my MFA in Film from Tisch School of the Arts at NYU. My short films have screened at Sundance, Tribeca, SXSW and many other festivals. I'm experienced in all areas of film production, especially writing, directing, editing and production design.

Physics

I was at the top of my AP Physics class at Stuyvesant and received a Silver Medal in Physics upon graduation, for having the second-highest Physics record in a class of around 800 students. I scored an 800 on the SAT II in physics, and a 5 on the Physics AP test.

I continued with Physics for a term while at Harvard, and though I didn't ultimately decide to concentrate in it, it remains a subject that I have great fondness for. I think it's one of the greatest, loveliest parts of the American High School curriculum and I love getting to experience it again through my students.

SAT Math

SAT Math is the single subject that I've spent the most time tutoring. I work with students at all skill levels, with extra time and without. I work both on individual content areas and on testing strategies and tricks that apply to a wide range of problems. I have a deep experience with the test and I know which topics arise with what frequency.

SAT Writing

SAT writing is one of the standardized testing areas in which I have the most confidence, and where I've been able to raise students' scores most dramatically.

Vocabulary

I've worked extensively with SAT and SSAT students on building their vocabularies. This area is particularly fun for me. I love words, and I think it helps students that I'm able to define the words we encounter in a fun and relatable way, without the aid of a dictionary.

I also teach a number of memory techniques to assist students in building their vocabularies and to aid in the memorization they do for other subjects.

Writing

I'm an expert at providing writing help with schoolwork or application materials.
