I love the beauty of the natural world, and the science that describes it. To love the subject, however, doesn't always mean we learn it with ease. I have spent the last 5 years working full-time and pursuing the required coursework for a Masters in Teaching in both biology and chemistry.
My approach to learning is based on a strengths perspective, cultivating a student's internal motivation and building on demonstrated achievement areas. Said another way, let's take a look at what you like doing and what you do well; let's use that as a solid foundation to work from as we branch out into more difficult stuff.
Study and learning techniques I employ are varied, depending on student needs. Methods have been known to include outlining, drawing, writing poems, sculpting with clay and dancing out chemical bond formation.
Please do reach out if you have any questions or would like to schedule an interview.
Happy learning!
