I am looking forward to assisting students in their educational endeavors in the fields of history, government, law and in general social studies. I earned my undergraduate degree in Urban Legal Studies, from City College of the City's Universities of New York. In addition, I also completed an MA in Political Science from Brooklyn College of the City's Universities of New York. I am presently enrolled at Brooklyn College where I am pursuing an MA in education, majoring in Social Studies. I have two semesters remaining in student teaching to fulfill the requirement for my graduate degree in education. I will embark upon the first of the two semesters in student teaching in Fall of this year and shall complete the other semester in Spring of 2012. I have also completed two years of law school at Thomas Cooley Law School in the State of Michigan.
I honestly believe that every student can be successful in obtaining a good education but critical to their success is the teacher's/tutor's ability to identify the type of leaner each student is. My first task in teaching is to figure out the type of learner I am dealing with and subsequently try to impart the subject area very simply. At the core of my teaching is utilizing examples of the subject that student and parent can identify with. For example, if I teach about the power of the Civil Courts, I may start with how a parking ticket is adjudicated because many parents and students may have dealt with the issue of a parking ticket.
My interest in students receiving a solid education is intense because without a good education students will find it extremely difficult to climb the social ladder. I sincerely hope that I will be given the opportunity to tutor you in the above academic areas and that you will be successful in your educational pursuit.
