A little bit about me: I come from a Cuban household and I grew up speaking Spanish. I graduated in May 2012 from Swarthmore College with high honors in Theater and Spanish language literature. By the combination of my upbringing and my education, I possess both an intuitive and learned understanding of Spanish that enables me to better communicate both its rules and nuances to non-speakers.
I have a strong reading and writing background, scoring a near perfect score score in reading and comprehension on my SATs and consecutive 5s on all of my AP English and Literature exams. I hold various playwriting, awards including from the South Eastern Theater Conference and Florida Stage, and recently debuted my own one-woman show in the Philadelphia Fringe festival. From March through July 2013, I worked in as a private English instructor in Paris teaching small children and working adults alike.
I live to share my passions with others, and tutoring has become a fulfilling way to do just that.

I have also led workshops in acting at the Bak Middle School of the Arts and Dreyfoos High school of the Arts. I individually coach a number of students in audition technique, monologue work, and public speaking. Several of my students have found confidence in their performance instincts and have excelled.

I attended magnet arts middle school and high school and have received training in summer conservatory programs including the Tisch School of the Arts Experimental Theater Wing Theater Workshop, as well the Yale Summer Conservatory for Actors. I am currently working to complete an honors major in theater with an honors history minor at Swarthmore College and will be completing two performance thesis by Spring 2012.

In summer of 2009, I performed Off-Broadway under the direction of Oscar-nominated Josh Fox as part of the International WOW Company. The performance, entitled "Reconstruction," was part of 2009 Summer Ice Factory Festival in Soho. In college, I have been featured in a number of roles including MARTHA from Edward Albee’s "Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf," KALE in Itamar Moses' "Outrage," WOMAN/DIET COMMISION/ YOUTH2 in George Bernard Shaw's "Far-Fetched Fables," JUROR #6 in Reginald Rose’s "Twelve Angry Men," and LYSISTRATA in the upcoming 2011 production of Aristophanes’ "Lysistrata." Other performance credits include the part of ANNA in Paula Vogel’s "The Baltimore Waltz" as part of the 2009 Directing I showcase and the part of WOMAN in David Ives’ "Sure Thing" as part of the 2008 campus one-act play festival. Furthermore, I recently directed and presented Act III from Caryl Churchill’s "Top Girls" as part of the 2010 Directing Showcase.
In addition to performance, I have experience in play-writing and have received a number of awards including the 2007 South Eastern Theater Conference “Best Secondary School Play” Award, "First Place" in the 2007 and 2008 Florida Stage Young Playwright’s Festival, and various critic’s choice and superior awards in play-writing during the 2006, 2007, and 2008 Florida District and State Thespian Festival. At Swarthmore, I have studied play-writing with Adriano Shaplin and will be originating a solo-performance piece February of 2012 in collaboration with a professional artist.
My teaching experience ranges from individual coaching in performance to classroom workshops. In 2008, I along with other students formed the Dreyfoos Student Theater Council at my high school. I arranged as well as led free workshops in various techniques, such as tremoring. In 2008, I led two extensive workshops in acting at the Bak Middle School of the Arts. From 2009-2010, I individually coached a number of students in preparation for theater auditions to magnet arts middle and high school programs, all of whom were accepted to the program of their choice.
