Greetings:

I am currently tutoring mathematics for grades 7 through college, having scored 796 on the SAT. I have a B.A. in English from NYU and I teach English grammar and literature as well as essay writing, which is very important for the SAT and ACT. On weekends I teach an SAT prep course, which is currently on hiatus.

I am a mature, responsible, attentive, patient and caring individual. I see no more than two students a day and I tutor no one past 7 pm during the week. That is just money wasted.

I expect my pupils to pay attention to what I tell them, to follow the steps to advance themselves, and to do the homework assigned to them. I use flashcards, study tips, handouts when necessary, posters and email. I also distribute important news about cultural events in the city and about what to watch on television. I even create and distribute DVDs of important shows that can contribute to my students' knowledge and increase their awareness of the world.

Everyone is different and I believe that everyone can do math.

Trigonometry

Trigonometry is a stunningly simple set of concepts developed into an intense set of constructs. A basic foundation of the linear grid and the Pythagorean theorem is necessary to be able to build up to the sophisticated formulas that must be memorized. A good strong memory is essential and a thorough knowledge of the graphing calculator is indispensable.

Sewing

I have been sewing for 42 years. I own an industrial machine, two sergers and more than 500 yards of fabric in my workroom. I have been hired to sew clothes, dresses, curtains and I have upholstered 30 banquettes/couches of one entire nightclub including 20 foot high velvet drapes.

Linear Algebra

Linear Algebra is a simple proportion on a two dimensional level. The student must be able to look at any line on a graph and be able to recognize slopes and displacement immediately. I have taught this approach in classes at Baruch College and the students easily grasp the concepts once the simplicity of the material is explained. However, strong basic math skills are essential to succeed in this easy subject.

Regents

I have taught the following Regents exams (geometry, trigonometry and algebra 1 and 2) based upon both the Baron's test books and the subject tests released by the Regents board itself.
