I just moved from Washington DC, to New York, and I'm looking to pick up some students in the city.
For topics ranging from physics to chemistry to SAT grammar, I help my students understand the concepts so that the details fall into place.
My experience helps me connect with a variety of students. I finished college with a double major in physics and biology and then became a high school physics and environmental science teacher. After four years teaching, I returned to grad school to pursue a degree in geography and now work as an environmental consultant. In college I balanced academics with fun by rowing crew, working as EMT, teaching skiing, and working in the stadium. Sharing my time between academics, team athletics and customer service, helped me depart from my nerdy high school roots and become a more capable student then teacher.
In my freshman year at Syracuse, I worked for a national SAT prep company, and stayed with them for 6 years before breaking out on my own to teach students at my school. During those years I worked with hundreds of students in Massachusetts and New York and received consistently exceptional reviews. Although I still teach SAT and my students make significant gains, I enjoy tutoring sciences, math and helping improve general studies. The opportunity to work with students over months and years, has been rewarding as I pursue my career outside of education.
I'm mostly available in the evenings and on weekends. I travel for work, a week or two a month - but work with my students for minimal disruption.
