I am a native speaker of Persian (Farsi) and am familiar with Arabic (we study Arabic for 8 years in public schools in Iran). I can teach you Arabic up to a an intermediate level, and of course with Persian, I can teach anyone up to an advanced level. Learning Persian/Arabic alphabet is fun, because it's so different from English, and I think graphically, it is more appealing to the eyes. People with an artistic taste will enjoy learning this!
After getting my MA in English Language and Literature, I started teaching English as a private tutor and in various language schools in Tehran, Iran. Since English is my second language, I fully understand how challenging it might be to learn. That is why I have designed a special course for Farsi/Dari/Arabic speakers who want to learn English. I can show you the connections between these languages, so you can learn the English vocabulary and grammar fast in a fun class!
I have been a tutor of Farsi (Persian) for the past five years, since I moved to the US. I am a native-speaker of Farsi (born and raised in Tehran, Iran). I have worked on Farsi projects for Google and Rosetta Stone (2008 - 2011).
"Medicine is my lawful wife", Anton Chekhov once said, "and literature is my mistress." For me, literature has been both a job and a passion. I love literature not only because of its cathartic function, but also for the very fact that it provides so much insight into the soul of human-being -- histories, cultures, fears, hopes and fantasies... whatever makes us human in a nutshell. I will be delighted to teach you world literature. My main areas of interest are: Russian novelists, Middle-eastern authors and poets, European classic and contemporary poetry and prose.
Philosophy has been my second passion (right after languages!) and therefore, I have studied it both as a hobby and in academic settings. My main areas of interest are: connections between eastern and western schools of thought, Continental Philosophy, overlaps of philosophy and media (film and literature), Deconstruction and French Feminism (I consider myself an eternal student of philosophy, so my interests are expanding :-))
As a teenager, I used to help my psychologist mom with writing articles and translating books almost every week. Later on, I studied Freud, Jung and Kristeva ("Psychotherapy" and related interdisciplinary areas) both in academic settings and on my own. Currently, I am developing skills in Psychological Astrology, which is a great tool for self-exploration. I would be delighted to teach you whatever I know, in case you are interested in getting to know yourself better and find a way to resolve your inner conflicts, as true psychology would help you live a more fulfilling, peaceful life.
