As I was studying at LaGuardia Community College, my Engineering degree has trained me to cover most National Curriculum subjects, and my subject specialisms are Design and Technology and English. I was working with the mathematics department and tutoring pre-algebra, algebra and pre-calculus. I have been able to extend both my practical and theoretical knowledge. I enjoy working with and learning from young people, and I am committed to making meaningful contributions to their growth. I planned, prepared and delivered educational activities that engaged students in debate and general awareness raising about the broader global environment: For example I ran workshops on topics like “where could information technology and engineering take me” , and “the Geographic Information System”. My experience working in varied environments has enabled me to develop a range of practical skills. I am able to manage challenging behavior effectively, conduct activities safely and communicate with people from diverse backgrounds. Further, I am very creative and enjoy sourcing materials that make learning interesting. Most importantly, my ability to work well with others, my motivation and inspiration stand to me as a very significant contribution that I am confident I could bring to any student. My time in school has developed my philosophy of valuing each child as an individual, as well as part of a community. I aim to give children as many learning opportunities and experiences as possible in order to engage, motivate and prepare them for future life. An appropriate, balanced, challenging and creative curriculum is essential in developing children’s skills, knowledge and understanding. I feel that in addition of me being a good listener, I also have the ability to convey my knowledge. I have good communication skill which is essential for an early learner. I have in particular come to understand the value of sharing learning objectives and success criteria with children. Knowing exactly what is expected and how they can achieve allows children to focus more clearly on tasks. This also facilitates effective self and peer assessments, as there are clear criteria and objectives to assess against, encouraging children to take more responsibility for their own learning. I am a hardworking and enthusiastic person who thoroughly enjoys a challenge and the responsibility being placed in them. Any chance I got to help children I will take it, help them learn and brightens their future.
