I have 5 years experience teaching ESL and close to 7 years experience working with adult students from a vast number of different cultures, ethnicities and nationalities.
That being said, I have gained a significant amount of insight into the linguistic difficulties that students of different language backgrounds encounter. Then, of course, each individual student has strengths and weaknesses. I believe that as a teacher/tutor it is important to come into a teaching position, ready to address those challenges and motivate/encourage the student through and beyond these challenges. My relationships with my students are positive, I believe that that is fundamental for learning to occur.
My strength and interest is English grammar and pronunciation, I am also skilled at assisting students in organizing and writing essays. The majority of my teaching experience is with English Language Learners however I believe my skills, particularly teaching grammar and essay writing are particularly well suited for native speakers at the middle-high school level.
