I have been teaching in the public school system for 7 years now, 9 years total counting my teaching experience in the Philippines. I currently teach Integrated Algebra to 9-12 Grade students at International School (07X334) in the Bronx, where I have been with the last 5 years.
My passion to become an effective teacher led me to two Master degree programs and am currently enrolled at City College for an MS in Math Education and at Lehman College for a Leadership training Program.
I am currently the Department Head of mathematics in my school and am also the lead teacher of my school as a lab site pilot program for the DOE this year, preparing instructional tools to prepare students for formative and performance based assessment tasks that reflect the Common Core Learning Standards that will be adapted in NYC public schools next year.
My experience in teaching includes Algebra, Geometry, Algebra 2 and Trigonometry, Pre-calculus, Biology, Chemistry and Physics. My background in teaching ESL students allows me to break lessons into small portions and outcomes that relate, inter-connect and build up to become a meaningful and whole learning experience for the students.
