I am a dedicated, caring Reading/Language Arts Tutor with over 30 years teaching and tutoring experience. I have a Master's Degree in Elementary, Special Education and Reading. In addition I am a New York State Permanently Certified Teacher. American History

I am an avid American History fan. I have tutored and taught students from Kindergarten through College levels in that subject. In addition, I have helped many students with term papers and essays in that subject area.

Vocabulary

I hold a BA in English, and a Master of Science degree in Reading/Language Arts. In addition, I have taught and tutored students in Vocabulary for over 30 years.

Grammar

I hold a BA in English/Education, as well as a Master of Science degree in N-6, Elementary Education, Special Education and Reading. I have also had the opportunity to assist students in Grades 7-8, as well as high school and college students. I have over 30 years teaching and tutoring students.

I have a great love of reading, so much so that I have a Master of Science degree in Elementary, Special Education and Reading, having taught and tutored in those areas for over 30 years.

World History

I have taught and tutored students in World History for the middle school grades. Besides that, I am very interested in that subject and try to pass that interest along to my students.

Proofreading

I have been a proofreader, copy editor and writer for all levels including Elementary, Middle School, High School and College levels, for over 30 years.

SAT Reading

I have helped many students prepare for the reading portion of the SAT, and have done so for over 20 years. I hold a Master of Science degree in Reading, and have a great love of reading and the importance of the need to have the ability for all to be good readers. One cannot excel in any subject area if they cannot read well.

TOEFL

I work in a college academic resource center, as an English/Writing Specialist. My job entails helping students to improve their English speaking, writing and listening skills. I also help them prepare for the TOEFL exam. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in English, as well as a Master of Science degree in Reading and Language Arts. It is my strong belief that it is absolutely imperative that students of all ages should know how to spell properly. They should not rely on spell check! I have had many years experience for all grade levels in teaching and tutoring students to be the best spellers they can possibly be.

I have a Master of Science degree in Special Education. For nearly 40 years, I have helped Special Needs children and young adults to improve their quality of life and educational needs. I have a great deal of patience and empathy for those with special needs.

Religion

I have 30+ years teaching experience. One of the subjects in particular was World Religions. To that end, not only did the students learn about their own faith, but that of others. Bible Studies

I am very interested in reading and studying the bible. I have taken bible study classes so that I might better understand the meaning of the Scriptures. In my teaching career I have taught children as young as 5 up through 13 years old. They enjoyed listening to bible stories, acting them out, writing stories and drawing pictures.

College Counseling

I have a great deal of experience counseling college students, including test taking skills, test anxiety and how to write essays effectively. I have permanent NY State Certification, and a Master of Science degree in Elementary Education, Special Education and Reading.

In addition, I have over 30 years experience teaching and tutoring Special Needs children, including those with ADD/ADHD.
