I have thirty years of experience as a network engineer. I have knowledge of VLANs and TCP/IP routing protocols such as EIGRP, OSPF, and RIP.

I am a Comptia Certified Technical Trainer (CTT). My CCNA certification is current. Other certifications include: A+; Network+; Security+ and CEH.

My know-how has assisted others to pass exams and to perform as network technicians.

General Computer

My experience has given me the fundamental knowledge of laptops, desktops and mobile devices. This covers the essentials of computer technology, installation, maintenance and configuration of PCs, hardware, software, and basic networking. Operating systems include Windows XP, Windows 7 and Windows 8: installation and upgrades. My certifications consist of CompTIA: A+, Network+ and Security+. I have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.

Networking (Computer)

I have over thirty years experience installing, maintaining and securing enterprise computer networks. My background includes hands on experience on Cisco 2500, 2600, 7200 routers and 2900 and 3500 switches. My certifications include Cisco CCNA, CompTIA: Network+, A+, and Security+. I have a thorough understanding of end to end networking and network problem determination.
I have worked with routing protocols such as RIP, OSPF, EIGRP and BGP. In the field, I have experience on: modems, CSU/DSUs and the above Cisco equipment. I am familiar with Lan technologies such as: Ethernet, Token-Ring, 100BaseT and 100BaseFX. The properties of LANS include: CSMA/CD, CSMA/CA, broadcast, collisions, speed and distance. I have knowledge of the following basic networking concepts: the OSI model, tcp and udp ports, ip addressing, basic wiring and cable standards. Bus, Star, Mesh, Ring, and client-server are topologies of basic networking which I understand and can explain. I also have knowledge of wireless technologies.

One of my certifications is CEH (Certification Ethical Hacker from EC-Council). My security experience involves hand on with IPS and IDS devices when protecting the networks form hackers and malicious software. I have used anti-virus software and malware removal programs to help PCs maintain a clean environment and remain virus free.

As I prepare for Cisco CCNP certification exams, I tutor others to improve their networking skills. With my experience, knowledge and understanding, I train students on the networking fundamentals or to become network professionals. It brings me joy to see others pass certification exams, get hired and advance at their place of employment.
