As your art tutor, I will have the honor to mentor you or your child on how to use his/her imagination, to be creative, and to expose your talent to show who you are and what you want to communicate to society.
In my instructing you on being you through your artwork, you will express yourself and illustrate through your originality that everywhere we go and anyplace we see, art is present around us 24/7 in the buildings we work and live in, in the clothes we wear, in the statues we decorate our houses with, in the toys children play with, etc.
With a Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art and nine years of experience guiding students in their Artistic abilities in sketching/drawing, illustrating, painting, sculpting, comic book making, and cartoon animating, my mission is for you to grow FROM STUDENT TO EXPERT in the field of Visual Arts. This will reflect in the good work you will show in your portfolio whether it's for a future career or for recreation. Either way, you or your child will develop an appreciation for a field that the human race should never dare take for granted. Art is part of our culture!
I taught Art History for nine years in my Art sessions. I studied Art History as part of my college major Studio Art and won my Bachelor of Arts at C.U.N.Y. Herbert H. Lehman College as a result of hard work and dedication to the Visual Arts.
Right now, I am pursuing to continue my graduate studies in Fine Art so I can give back more to educate people in the beauty and pride of the Arts.
From, age one (believe it or not), I enjoyed drawing a lot. During high school, I took an Art program at C.U.N.Y. Herbert H. Lehman College where I progressed in my sketching abilities of the human form and landscapes. At my high school graduation, I won an award for Excellence In Art.
After my high school graduation, I went back to Lehman College and enrolled to take up Studio Art as my major because I enjoy the Visual Arts. I graduated from there with a Bachelor of Arts in Studio Arts. Studio Arts involves: Drawing/Sketching, Painting, Sculptering, Photography, and Art History.
Now, I am pursuing my graduate studies in Fine Art, so I can continue to further educate students in the fun world of Drawing. Drawing is Sketching and The Elements of Art will be used to establish what the student will learn to create fantastic portraits. The student will have fun understanding that The Elements of Art involves the following: Lines, Shapes, Colors, Textures, Objects, Subjects, and Landscapes. The student, right after the first lesson of sketching shapes into the human form, will be taught in sketching the human face to where the image will appear as if it's rising from the two-dimensional surface of the paper. From there, the student will go into learning how to create portraits of animals and places. Most importantly, the student will be taught that to sketch very good, it is he/she who controls the pencil. Not the pencil controlling the student.
Ever since I was in elementary school, and I continued drawing, I knew I could make paintings and I started producing portraits with acrylic and watercolor paints. If an Artist can draw on sketch paper with a pencil, an Artist can paint an image on canvas with a paint brush. At C.U.N.Y. Herbert H. Lehman College, I studied Painting starting with the class "Introduction to Painting" to further my abilities in an Art discipline that showed us our world history for thousands of years before the invention of the camera. The painting classes I learned from were part of my major Studio Art for which I won my Bachelor of Arts.
Recently, I started my graduate studies in Fine Art starting with my first graduate advanced painting class. I am pursuing to continue my graduate studies in the Visual Arts so I can further educate future painters. In Drawing, the student controls the pencil to produce good portraits, the same is true in painting, where the painter controls the brush strokes while adding the colors to the canvas. If you can draw, you can paint an image on canvas, water color paper, or any other type of paper. Students will understand that the canvas must be primed before you start illustrating an image whether the paint to be used is Acrylic, Tempera, Oil, or Water Color. The student will also learn in the process how to blend colors together to form texture in a painting. The size of the painting works with when you started the painting and if you started the project on time. For example, to have an oil painting prepared on the due date, depending on the size of the work and how long it will take to dry, the oil painting must be started a month to five months before.
Painting is a way of capturing: a moment in time, an image of a person or object that caught your attention, the beauty of nature, and the animals and sea creatures that roam our planet.
It will be a thrill to pass down the knowledge I obtained from Painting to the Artists of tomorrow to help spread the appreciation of Art.
