I have been retired from the New York City Department of Education for two years. I worked with special needs children for 30 years in District 75. Their ages range from 4.9 years through 14 years. The children varied from learning disabled emotional/behavioral challenges, children with autism and children with multiple challenges. It is important to work with related service providers, the teachers, parents and student to get a picture of the child and her/his individual needs. I have a strong background working with small groups aw well as one on one. Tapping into the child's interest, the arts, science and sports, helps to motivate the child to learn and succeed.

The ages ranged from 4.9 months through middle school. I taught all subject areas including art and dance/movement. I was a crisis intervention educator/dean.

I am a retired special needs educator with 30 years of experience. I have worked with students who have been diagnosed with ADD/ADHD, ages 4.9 to 14 years. I also was a Crisis Intervention/Dean of the elementary/middle school and at the high school level.

Autism

I worked with children with autism from the start of my career as an Educator of Special needs children. During many training workshops at the school site, we were shown tools to better serve our children. District 75, New York City Department of Education, gave citywide staff development days addressing new developments, studies and hands-on experiences to work with children of autism.
