I have a B.A. in Mathematical Sciences from Binghamton University, and my Masters in Secondary Mathematics (Gr. 7 - 12) from Pace University. I have been a tutor for over 6 years, covering all subjects from basic math to calculus. I also have tutoring experience with the SAT and ACT math examination. Aside from tutoring, I used to be a freelance math item writer and editor. I have written two practice manuals for Intermediate Algebra II, test items for Algebra I/II and Geometry as well. I am currently working in the Mahopac School District.
As far as teaching style is concerned, I vary my lessons based upon the individual student's aptitude. If I see that a student is struggling with a concept, my instruction will be more involved, explaining the process step by step. I typically can cover 2-3 topics per hour based upon student comprehension. I don't rush, I don't pick up and leave once we hit 60 minutes, I try to make the process as painless as possible. I realize that 99 percent of my students aren't big fans of math, and I will do whatever I can to ensure comprehension and build confidence. Anyone can learn math, it's my job to find out how you learn.
