Architecture Major / Art Design Programs / Ceramics Minor

My name is Sarah, and I am a Dean List student (2009-present) at Syracuse University majoring in Architecture and minoring in Ceramics. I am also a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, and was secretary of SMAD (Society of Multicultural Architects and Designers). I traveled abroad for a year, living in Florence and London each for a semester. I graduate in May of 2014 for my Bachelors Degree.

In my 5-year Architecture major, I have over 4 years of experience with Adobe: Photoshop, Illustrator, AfterEffects; AutoCAD, Rhino, Sketch-up, Cinema 4D. I can introduce the basics with clever techniques or advance your knowledge with the programs.

During my abroad experience, I have traveled throughout Europe to explore different cultures and to gain architecture inspirations. Countries I traveled to include: Italy, England, Ireland, France, Spain, Belgium, Holland, and Germany. If anyone is interested in traveling abroad, contact me for details. I will explain my experience including what to expect and how to make the most of your experience.

I have a lot of experience in Art and currently Ceramics. I have done painting, drawing, and AP studio art in high school. I have received many awards in high school, as I have a strong eye for art techniques and originality. I will be willing to give any advice or teach art of any medium. If anyone needs their portfolio to be reviewed, I will also be willing to give another opinion from my experience.

As for Ceramics, I can teach the basis or explain how the course in college is. Facilities and equipment will be needed for Ceramic lessons.

Study Skills

I have great organization skills that break down any subject for studying and making easier to understand. I am currently secretary of this architecture club, part of Syracuse University, and have received numerous compliments on my organization skills. I also know multiple learning techniques from personal and given experience. My study skills will help any student have a fun, sometimes silly way of memorizing information for any course or subject.

Drawing

I have had great experience working with the fine arts using different mediums. I know multiple techniques to make original 2D artwork be expressed to have dimension and meaning. I have won many high school awards, having a coloring book distributed, along with creating many graphic designs for clubs in high school and now in college. With my life experience I have endless ideas to help students develop their own style and originality.

Painting

I have been involved with art all my life. In high school I had an excellent teacher from whom I learned techniques of shading, blending, contrasts, and much more. I have had much experience with watercolors, oil pastels, soft pastels, acrylic paints, and color pencils. I also have learned to use clever art techniques using substances such as salt and cement glue as examples.

AutoCAD

I have had over 3 years of AutoCAD experience. I have worked with all the updated versions for uses of architecture projects and design.
I know the basic commands and more, knowing helpful uses AutoCAD serves for drawings and design especially. With drawings, I can add details, such as hatching, line weight control, layer properties, 2D and 3D controls, make walls, plans, and sections and more. Adobe InDesign

As an architecture student, I use InDesign for layouts of presentations and for papers. As part of a club, I also used the program to set up a layout for a magazine issue that was printed and distributed through my University. I have had 3 years experience with the program, knowing the basic and setup hints to have a great image and project display.

Architecture

Currently an undergrad architecture student at Syracuse University, with a 3.5 design GPA, I understand the basics and conceptual terms of architecture urban design.
