I recently received my PhD in English, and am currently teaching at a local community college. I have been fortunate, however, to have always made teaching my career. Whether it was adjunct level work while writing my dissertation, or my several years experience as a NYC public school teacher, I have always been passionate about my work. Knowledge is power, and the key to knowledge is to developing the critical thinking skills that translate to all areas of learning.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Regents

As a former high school English teacher and a current college professor at a local community college, I am well versed in the standards and requirements for the NYS English Regents. My years of experience teaching and tutoring in all language arts areas, as well as the fact that I hold a doctorate in English literature, make me particularly qualified to tutor for the English Regents.
