I do one-on-one tutoring. I help kids out with homework, classwork and test preparation from kindergarten to grade eight. I also provide extra worksheets that will better help them understand what they are learning in class so they go to classes well prepared.I sometimes even give them practice quizzes to help prepare for an upcoming test as well. Usually first I ask the kids if they have questions and then answer them before proceeding to my planned lesson. I also help kids prepare for standardized exams by helping them improve their reading and what they should look for before answering a question. Since time is limited on an exam, I also teach quick methods like process of elimination to help answer questions much faster so kids don't spend to much time on one particular question.

I currently attend Stony Brook University and am a sophomore on the pre-med track. I have been tutoring for three years usually in the library near my home. Majority of the students I tutored were either in elementary or middle school. When I tutor elementary school kids, I tutor a wide range of subjects including grammar, phonics, multiplication, division, adding, subtraction, fractions, mixed number, decimals, factoring, square roots, critical thinking, science, united states history, reading, learning to write, good speaking skills. When I teach, first I start by asking the students on what they are confused. Then I look at their homework and see where they are weak and then I proceed with the lesson by providing examples and sample problems which will help strengthen the student's weak points. This will prepare them for their next homework and their upcoming test and they will understand what is going on in class instead of walking out of class confused.
I am a sophomore at Stony Brook University on the pre-med track. When I tutor students, I usually tutor at a local library. When trying to study for an upcoming test or any test in general, forming good study habits/study skills is necessary to actually understand what you are learning. Some very important habits are the following: One, always study in a quiet place where there are no distractions. The library is the perfect place because it also provides sources for help. Two, don't study everything in one night. Cramming the information is rarely helping because right after the test is over, you forget almost everything you studied. If one studies from day one, and is up to date with the class, then the knowledge will remain and it will be easier to review everything before the exam instead of actually learning it the night before. Three, test yourself as if you were actually taking a test without looking at any hints or suggestions. If you need help, take help from someone else.
Forming study groups is an effective way to learn and study as well. Also eating well and getting a good night sleep is essential as well so your mind can relax and not be stressed. Stress usually tends to make people forget certain things.
Very patient, enthusiastic, and thorough! — I was very pleased with Sarah's lesson today. My daughter can be a little stubborn, easily distracted and often unmotivated. Sarah not only got her attention, but she also made her laugh and smile, which increased her confidence. My daughter is looking forward to her next lesson! ...
