Hello there! I am an adjunct professor of Chinese at Drew University and I am a recent graduate of the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies master's program. I completed my requirements, including my thesis and thesis defense, in Chinese. My undergraduate degree was in East Asian Languages and Literature, with minors in Creative Writing and Dance. I am currently a fellow of a non-profit organization working to help the impoverished in Western China. I am also a contributing editor of a literary review.

I have been tutoring students from ages 5 to 22 for over 8 years in English and Chinese. I have also translated for businesses and organizations. I also have much experience tutoring students for standardized testing. I set up personalized tutoring methods for each student I have, based on what kind of learning they respond best to. I assign homework after every lesson in order to analyze each student's progress and performance.

I have a quiet study space in Astoria where I live, but I am more than willing to travel to your desired location as well.

I hold myself to a high standard. For that reason, I often ask for feedback, and I will never bill a session in which the student or parent is not satisfied with my performance.

Looking forward to meeting and working with you!

If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Chinese

I am a recent graduate of the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies master's program at the Hopkins-Nanjing Center located in Nanjing, China. I completed my requirements, including classes, thesis, and thesis defense, in Chinese. My undergraduate degree was in East Asian Languages and Literature at Washington and Lee University. I have translated between China and the United States for a decade, and have tutored both sides in both languages at beginner and intermediate levels. I have many textbooks for my students, as well as access to videos and visual aides. I specialize in simplified Chinese and the Mandarin dialect.
