There is nothing I love more than helping others, especially kids who are struggling in school. I have had several years of experience tutoring students of all ages in a variety of subjects. I love teaching and my goal is to make a difference in my students' lives.

Over the past year I have tutored elementary school children in Math and English Language Arts to improve their reading, writing, and spelling. I have also had several years of experience teaching adults ESL (English as a Second Language) and tutoring college students in Spanish.

My strongest subject to teach at the advanced level is Spanish. I was a teaching assistant for a Spanish grammar class at Binghamton University and studied abroad in Spain for a semester. Having majored in Political Science with a concentration in Global and International Affairs, I am also able to help students with world history, geography, government, and writing essays.

I am also qualified to tutor in SAT preparation. My scores are as follows: Math-700 Writing-710 Reading Comprehension-600.

Reading

I am able to assist younger students with reading by helping them break down and sound out new words. By helping them to read, I also help them develop writing skills as they expand their vocabulary and learn how to spell phonemic words.

Spanish

I have been studying Spanish over the past 13 years. I studied abroad in Spain for a semester in college and am now fluent in the language. I am extremely knowledgeable about Spanish grammar and syntax. I am able to tutor in the language at all levels as well as assist in developing conversational skills.

ESL/ESOL

I have had several years of experience teaching English as a Second Language (ESL). In college, I was a teaching assistant for an ESL class and tutored international students weekly to help them practice their English. Currently I instruct a beginner level ESL class for adults. I speak Spanish and limited Arabic so I am able to translate when necessary.

Elementary Math

Over the past year, I have worked with children from kindergarten to fourth grade to help them improve their math skills. I have developed engaging activities for kids to become interested in learning (such as using money, drawing pictures, using stop watches, etc.) and have helped them develop memorization skills for learning times tables (making flashcards, creating mnemonic devices, etc.)

Arabic

I have a Bachelor's degree in Arabic and am able to tutor it at the beginner level. I studied Modern Standard Arabic for three years and Egyptian dialect for one year. I can read and write in the Arabic alphabet and can speak enough to help those who are just starting to learn the language.
