My name is Danielle, I'm 23 years old, and I graduated NYU last year. I majored in Dramatic Literature, which I explain as essentially an English major with a concentration in Theatre.
I enjoy reading and writing, and believe strong skills in both are necessary to succeed in anything. In addition, I understand that elementary school lays the foundation for everything else a child learns in school. I love children (I have a younger brother and six younger cousins, all of whom I babysit on a regular basis) and have experience helping young family members and other children with homework. In recent babysitting jobs, I had specific job duties to assist the kids in their homework each afternoon. Additionally, I studied abroad in London this past semester, where I volunteered at a primary school as a teacher's assistant in a Year Two class of six year olds.
English and the arts have always been my strengths, and I plan to pursue a career in arts administration. I attended a performing arts overnight camp for seven years where I performed in sixteen full-scale musicals, and received acting, voice, and dance training. In my last two summers I assistant directed three productions in which the youngest campers performed. In high school, I learned music theory and sight singing for three years in choir, as well as in my extracurricular voice lessons. My choir class involved assisting other students who were struggling with music theory before any tests. I participated in the NYSSMA All-State competition my junior year of high school as a vocal soloist and received a score of 97/100. While I have never taken formal piano lessons, I can read music proficiently and can sight read piano music relevant to sight singing, music theory, etc.
