I am a 2007 graduate of Colby College in Maine, where I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in History and in German Studies. After graduating, I spent an academic year in Austria as an English Language Teaching Assistant, and have experience tutoring English, German, and history. My areas of expertise and interest are German, European history, geography, reading, writing, and English. I have two years of experience as a college admissions counselor, and am currently pursuing my Ph.D. in modern European history.

European History

Currently I am pursuing my PhD in modern European history, with a focus on the WWII period. German

I began formal study of the German language in January 2004. I have taken advanced German language and literature courses, as well as history courses in German. While completing my Bachelor of Arts in History and German Studies, I spent seven months studying in southwest Germany, where I took seminars taught entirely in German. I have worked with several students, ranging in age from children to adults, who are either native speakers of English, or for whom English is a second language. In addition to tutoring several students individually in English (reading, writing, and speaking), I worked in a classroom setting teaching English while a Language Assistant in Austria.

Proofreading

While working for two years as a college admissions counselor, one of my major duties was to serve as proofreader/copy editor for outgoing mass communications and published admissions materials. I also have extensive writing and editing experience as a student of history. Currently, as a teaching assistant, I read and grade student essays regularly, and provide constructive feedback in terms of content, argument, grammar, and spelling.
