Hi!!
Hope your day is going well!
I am an English teacher with over 16 years of teaching businesspeople, students and children in individual and group format. I speak Spanish, French, Portuguese, some Japanese, Greek, Farsi, Chinese, Hebrew, etc.
I love to teach both children and adults equally, and am funny and fun!
I have been cleared by the Department of Education to teach and have taught foreign businesspersons, small children and students. I also have a room in my house that I rent out to Japanese and Korean international students who are learning English. I have been doing this for 10 years and have also personally tutored in English conversation, grammar, accent reduction and TOEFL. I am about to receive my TESOL certification, and have done two internships for my certification, one in an adult ESL program where I taught 20 students at a time, and one in my school where I assisted in an class in ESL and music.
I have a B.A. from Hunter College, where I majored in Urban Affairs, English and Psychology and minored in media. I worked my way through school in various administrative positions, and taught one student English in exchange for Japanese, which is when I started tutoring, in 1992.
I have a M.A. in Small Business Management from New York University, where I also took my real estate salesperson and brokers courses. I worked in the field of real estate rentals and sales for 10 years, at one point brokering 100 rent-stabilized buildings with my father in our company, Elias Realty. I have also worked in public relations, advertising and media sales.
I am very flexible and can accommodate you by either providing you with material to teach, or by using outside sources. I possess grammar books, dictionaries in French, Portuguese and Spanish, and textbooks in English language learning.
I think what makes me different is that I am a kid myself, and never stop learning!!
