I am a pharmacy student with a passion for science and education. Before starting pharmacy school I attended Brandeis University where I took a liberal arts curriculum and pre-med courses. I started working in a pharmacy and was then motivated to pursue a career in pharmacy instead of medicine. I transferred to Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences and have been happily pursuing my doctorate in Pharmacy since then. I recently added a M.S. in Clinical Leadership from Union Graduate College to my course of study and will be working on that concurrently with the PharmD.
As a high school student I participated in tutoring middle school students in math and science courses. I also have experience working with elementary age children through a program called Junior Brandeis Achievers (a volunteer tutoring/after school activity program through Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts). I, along with another college student, met with a group of twenty elementary students two afternoons a week and coordinated physics/chemistry based activities. I learned from those students that the most knowledge is gained when students are actively engaged and excited about a topic! (It helps when the instructor is excited too!)
I believe that students learn best when they are excited about a subject and are best motivated by positive reinforcement. I plan to incorporate my passion and excitement for learning into my tutoring. I delight in planning lessons and activities related to educational concepts in order to engage students.
I also have experience working with high school students and I feel very comfortable with the subject matter and would be pleased to tutor any high school level science, math or history courses. Keep in mind that summer is a great time to get ahead! I would be happy to work with students in preparation for next school year or in conjunction with summer school!
Finally, I have experience tutoring college level science courses, specifically General Chemistry.
I look forward to helping your child to excel the way I have! I look forward to meeting to find out if your student and I are a good match!
