I hold a Bachelors Degree in Business with a focus on Accounting from the UNR. I graduated in the top ten percent of my class, May of 2007. That summer a friend asked me to join the Dean’s Future Scholars program as a mentor. I had previously tutored in high school, but that was such a long time since then. This experience was different. My friend and I were in charge of a medium size class; we reviewed in the mornings and assisted in the actual summer classes afterwards.

I had such a great time my boss recommended I try substitute teaching. So, I got my license in September of 2007 and enjoyed it until September 2010.Most of my subbing days were spend at the Coral Academy of Science, the rest were at various schools in Washoe County. Just to mention, I also worked as a tutor for the Upward Bound Program, the semester before my license expired.

I love working in math, mainly pre-algebra and algebra. But, I also enjoy helping out with middle school Spanish and Accounting 201.

I believe that sometimes we just need things to be explained differently in order to get it. So, I like to work backwards. I’ll start off asking questions to see what the student understands and doesn't. Then I’ll go back to the concept right before the problem area. That way the rest of the concept or steps can be explained differently. Another way of looking at it: I ask questions, explain concepts, work out examples together, and watch them work on it by themselves to see if there are any more questions, and repeat. I love to reinforce the concepts in the next session.

I am available to meet in person so you can ask me question to get to know me and just see if you’d like to hire me as your tutor. I will not charge a student if he or she is unsatisfied with the tutoring session.

For any cancellations please let me know 12 hours in advance. If canceling before then, free makeup sessions can be made on Saturdays and Sundays.

I enjoy seeing students become confident in the materials they avoid, especially a subject like math.

I would love to have their feedback on how I’m doing so I can better myself.
