I am a recently retired Washoe County School District teacher. I taught in the district for 14 years, and I also taught in Carson City. I am certified in English
Applications and Health/PE. I am good at most subjects as I am a very versatile person. I have two sons. One is 32 and a Computer Science
Engineer and is doing quite well in his career, and the other is a Sophomore. They both have done very well in school, and the Sophomore has managed to maintain a 4.0 throughout his schooling. My main goal as a teacher, and a mom, is to get the students to learn the content/material. I focus on the student and how the student learns. I am flexible in the fact that I will change any lessons up to create an environment that works for the learner. I think that is how I had such great success with my students and my own children.
I am great at teaching writing
. That is my forte. I tutored many students and many friends in college, and they all managed to receive A's on their writing projects. I am a high-level reader. I work well with all-levels of students, even though I have mostly taught high school. I am not certified in Special Ed, but I did work in the Special Ed main office when I taught Adaptive PE in Carson City. I learned very much about working with the Special Needs
students, and also was usually the teacher of choice by the Special Education teachers at the schools where I taught. I treat all my students as individuals and feel they all need Individual Lesson Plans, no matter what level of learner they are. My son is actually a categorized Gifted Learner, and these types of students also need their own plan.
I look forward to hearing from you and creating an awesome learning experience. Have a great day!
