Hi new student!
I'm looking forward to meeting you! How can I help?
I have extensive experience tutoring, including as an overseas English tutor. I volunteered at the Seattle Bilingual Orientation Center and for an independent volunteer tutoring program (IDEA Tutoring) while in college.
I am certified in TEFL-TESOL and worked as an English teacher in Santiago, Chile, for two years. I am bilingual: I became fluent in Spanish while I was there! I also majored in Spanish and know more about Spanish grammar than I know how to use! I have numerous books and resources at my disposal to make our lessons fun!
My experience abroad has given me a greater appreciation of my own language, English, and my degree in Linguistics has taught me a great deal about grammar, syntax, spelling, and all sorts of other fun stuff.
With language, I feel it is most important that students feel comfortable talking, because that's where they will use most of the language they're learning. In my lessons, we will be talking a lot and utilizing new conversation strategies and grammar throughout the conversation, so you will feel comfortable expressing yourself in a "real life" situation. I'll make you a "syllabus" (if you want one) so you will know what to expect from each session.
I am excited to meet you, future student(!), and hope you're ready for a fun and challenging road to fluency and fluidity in English or Spanish!
