My name is Eric.
I specialize in Math, especially SAT/ACT and late high school or early college math. I have a BS in Finance and a minor in Economics from Montana State University. I am currently the sales director of a company in Las Vegas, the soccer coach for Cashman Middle School, and a private tutor.
In high school, I struggled immensely with classes, especially math. I could not understand what it would be used for, or why it was important. I was not able to get myself to memorize formulas or factoids just long enough for the next test, as is often the case in public schools today.
I attended DeVry University as an 18 year old, but realized I was hopelessly behind in my basic skills, and soon dropped out. I joined the army for several years as a recon scout.
I started to feel the urge to do something "smarter" with my life, and decided to give college another try. I was accepted at Montana State University. I changed my major several times during my 4 1/2 years, as I realized that I liked everything, but couldn't major in everything! I had a difficult time in the beginning, but within a semester or two, I had regained everything I would have attained in 4 years of high school, and then some. I ended up majoring in Finance and minoring in Economics from MSU.
More recently, I have realized that what I really like is teaching others, especially those who have a tough time learning certain subjects. I feel that I have a knack for connecting with people in a unique way, and can often determine what the problem is and an effective solution for it.
I have helped dozens of men attain their GEDs who are in prison. Some had some school, others barely knew how to read. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing someone who was going to give up decide to take another crack at it. I have also taught higher level adult continuing education classes, one on Complex Systems and one in Calculus Applications. I have been told that I have a gift for allowing anyone in my class, regardless of aptitude or background, to understand the topics and their applications.
Nothing I have ever done yet has been as satisfying as tutoring, and I hope I can help you!
