My name is Jasmine G., and my tutoring style is pretty direct. For the past three years, I had been volunteer tutoring for subjects like Pre-Calculus, Algebra I and II, Trigonometry, and Geometry. I've been making sure that all concepts are visited and mastered through solving problems and that every step involved in obtaining an answer is completely comprehended. I like to break things down and I want my students to understand why the answer is what it is.
Math is the gateway to so many other disciplines, but it is also the foundation for logical thinking and resourcefulness in approaching any of life's obstacles. I want all of my students to understand that.
I do my best to reach as many audiences as I can. I am fluent in both Portuguese and Spanish, so I am willing to explain things in a language that may be more suitable. Being a certified to tutor in these languages as well, my teaching style entails a very hands on approach through, mainly through conversation. Grammar is essential, especially when dealing with a language like Portuguese, but I want my students to be able to carry on a decent conversation with any native language speaker. I lived in Brazil for 4 years, and maintain close relationships with everyone I meet, so my Portuguese has more of an Amazonian accent. My Spanish is also very South American, even though I mastered it in the Dominican Republic. I know that my students would take with them the conviction of being versed in another language.
