ADD/ADHD

On June 1, 2010 I was certified on the subject of "Exceptional Student Education" through the Clark County School District, issued for having completed this course through their "Professional Development for School Employees" division which included studies on students with Asperger's Syndrome, Autism and those with ADD/ADHD.

I have taken several college courses and passed with A's & B's including: Cultural Anthropology, Biological Anthropology and I just finished a three part 6 unit course in the combined subjects on Anthopology, Sociology and Psychology last semester. Also I am an avid fan of the hit TV series Bones in which I have watched almost EVERY episode within their 7 seasons.

Bible Studies

I have went to private school most of my life and have a pretty extensive background in bible studies, including making my holy communion and confirmation. As an adult I have also studied many different philosophies of both eastern and western religion. My favorite author is Deepak Chopra, MD and my favorite book, written by him is "How To Know God" in which he prevides an extensive correlation between all matters spiritual and the scientific world. Also, I have just finished reading the famous book, Siddartha and I am now currently reading "The Sermon On The Mount".

Career Development

I have helped many people in the area of career development including preparing them for tests regarding licensure, entrance into college, assistance with FAFSA for government financial aid, apptitude tests, consulatation of career paths, creation of their resumes and referrals to career testing to see what areas one excels at to align them with possible career choices.

College Counseling

Being a sixth year college student, I have had plenty of experience with how to help someone make the right choices toward their path to earn their desired degree. I am fluent in the IGETC format which, when followed allows the student to choose either state colleges or private. I am also extremely knowledgeable with financial aid, where I can assist in the federal FAFSA application for financial aid.

Cooking

I learned to cook when I was 9 years old and have been cooking ever since (about 30 years). Both of my parents are gourmet cooks and so am I. I also am an avid reader of different food magazines and I regularly watch cooking shows. My favorite chef is Rachel Ray and although I don't particularly like chef Gordon Ramsey's harsh attitude, I do respect his culinary expertise. Besides cooking in general I also have a great background in baking and candy making. In fact, my homemade angel candies look so amazing, people do not want to eat them!

Elementary (K-6th)

I am a certified licensed substitute teacher for grades K-12 with the Department of Education. I hold a current "Special" License for substitute teaching and have a current background check on file.

Microsoft Outlook

I have extensive knowledge with Microsoft Outlook including creating html code and connecting several email interfaces within Outlook so to take care of the complications of having many different email addresses.

Microsoft Windows

I have extensive knowledge in both personal and corporate versions of Microsoft Windows including stemming all the way back from Windows 95, Windows 2000, XP, Vista & the new version, Windows 7. I can work in or teach others how to use multiple windows at once. I would say I am atleast 90% proficient in all aspects of operating Windows, including complete system back-ups and restoration. I also understand present day configuration and can still handle prior versions that dealt with multi-level branching of files.

Nutrition

I have a B.S. in Nutrition from Clayton College in Birmingham, Alabama. I graduated in 1999 with High Honors and with a 3.82 cummulative GPA.

Phonics

I am a full time college student at Western Governors University transitioning from a fully licensed substitute teacher to a full time regular teaching license. I am now at the end of my degree and have entered into the actual teacher portion of the degree. I have already satisfied most of my academic requirements in the field of the Social Sciences/Social Studies. I have a lot of experience in teaching English, especially in the areas of syntax, grammar, vocabulary/spelling and phonics.

Public Speaking

I am a full time college student at Western Governors University transitioning from a fully licensed substitute teacher to a full time regular teaching license. I am now at the end of my degree and have entered into the actual teacher portion of the degree. Throughout my six years of college education I have had several instances requiring me to give speeches and presentations in public speaking. And, my experience as a substitute teacher was a daily demonstration in my ability as a public speaker.

Religion

I have went to private school most of my life and have a pretty extensive background in bible studies, including making my holy communion and confirmation. As an adult I have also studied many different philosophies of both eastern and western religion. My favorite author is Deepak Chopra, MD and my favorite book, written by him is "How To Know God" in which he prevides an extensive correlation between all matters spiritual and the scientific world. Also, I have just finished reading the famous book, Siddartha and I am now currently reading "The Sermon On The Mount".

I am now at the end of my degree and have entered into the actual teacher portion of the degree. I have already satisfied most of my academic requirements in the field of the Social Sciences/Social Studies.

Sociology

I have taken several college courses and passed with A's & B's including: Statistics in the Social Sciences, Regular Sociology and I just finished a three part 6 unit course in the combined subjects on Anthopology, Sociology and Psychology last semester.

Special Needs

Study Skills

As a 6 year college student with 2 college degrees I am extremely proficient in the area of study skills. I not only have been able to demonstrate this personally and academically but I have had actual college courses which relate to this subject. Also, I thoroughly understand that not all students learn the same way. For example, some learners, such as myself, do the best with visual "photo" recognition. Some learners learn by way of visual example, where some learn better by methods of repetition. I am very prepared to tutor others in this area and I can be especially helpful in the study skill of test taking.

Tax Preparation

I worked for Arkin & Sneddon, CPAs from 1999 to 2004 in all areas of tax preparation including personal and corporate taxes.

Web Design

For years, I have been very active in a company with the name of Mr. R's Songs That Teach in all aspects of web creation and optimization. I have also worked on several other web sites in the areas of creation/web design, creative writing and graphics implementation, e-commerce and optimization. I can even write a little html code and thoroughly read it/translate it.

Great tutor — I was a little worried when I found this site and invited a tutor into my home. But it was the BEST choice that I have made for my daughter. I reviewed a lot of profiles and spoke with 3 other tutors before I finally decided on Lisa. My daughter has dyslexia and Lisa has been patient and kind. In the short amount of time that Lisa has worked with my daughter she has became more confident and is ve ...
