Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ACT Math

I have tutored many students in preparing for the math section of ACT, and can help them with skills review as well test taking strategies. Having taught High School, I understand that students today are pulled in many different directions, and I can show them how to make the best of their time.

Algebra 1

I have taught Algebra at the high school level for more than three years, and have lots of experience with different learning styles. I can help your child understand that math is relevant to their life, and even interesting!

Algebra 2

I have taught Algebra I, Algebra II, and Precalculus in the high school setting, and have tutored students preparing for the ACT and SAT. I use a wide variety of tools and methods to help different styles of learning, and make sure that you understand one concept before moving on to the next.

College Counseling

I am a graduate of a Tier I University, an adjunct Professor of two others. I am also on the advisory board of an Engineering School. In these roles, as well as in my role as a tutor for standardized testing, I have experience in reviewing student transcripts and applications, and in mentoring applicants. I can help students present themselves in the most genuine and appealing light, whatever their goals for the future.

Computer Engineering

I have a Bachelor's degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering and have spent over 10 years supporting and configuring personal computers and workstations and networks at home and at work I am most familiar with the Windows operating systems, but also have experience with Linux and Unix. My experience is commensurate with A+, Net+ certifications. I am currently pursuing Security + and CCNA certs.

Differential Equations

I have had 5 or more graduate level physics and engineering classes that taught differential equation solution techniques in conjunction with use of the equations in modeling physical systems such as electronic circuits and mechanical systems. I have a Bachelors, Masters and PHD in Engineering.

Electrical Engineering

I have a BS in Electrical Engineering, a MS in Biomedical Electronics, and a PhD in Biomedical Imaging. My background has focused on the use computers and electronics in medicine, and I know plenty about basic circuits as well as digital communications.

Linear Algebra

I have a taken linear algebra and used it in computer programming. I routinely work with matlab to transform image data using linear algebra and algebraic operations. I have a BS, MENG and PHD in engineering.

Networking (Computer)

I have spent over 10 years supporting and configuring personal computers and workstations and networks at home and at work I am most familiar with the Windows operating systems, but also have experience with Linux and Unix. Organic Chemistry

I have took organic chemistry in college and in Medical School as part of a PHD program. I have also tutored several students in the basic chemistry principles needed to understand the types of reactions important to the course material.

Praxis

I am able to tutor for Math and Verbal skills of the Praxis Part I. I have advanced graduate degrees, and have passed the subject knowledge tests of the Praxis covering secondary education (Physics, Chemistry and Math).

I am also able to tutor for the Physics, Chemistry and Math portions of the Praxis II.

Prealgebra

I have a taught all areas of 6-12 grade math, and have a set of tools for helping different learning styles.

Precalculus

I have taught all levels of Algebra and Precalculus, including Trigonometry. I have many different teaching methods and tools that work well with a variety of different learning styles.

SAT Math

I have taught all levels of high school math through pre-calculus, and have tutored many students preparing for the SAT, ACT and GRE. I have a wide variety of tools and techniques for working with different learning styles.
