Testimonials

"You couldn't ask for a better tutor."

- Ashley, Las Vegas, NV on 11/22/11
Richard replied on 11/28/2011

Ashley is the consummate student. She came to me with goals and mission in mind. My job was to apply focus and give her the tools to succeed. Once accommodated, with a little accountability, she took off. My program is certain to raise the central score by 10 points no matter the situation, yet in Ashley's case the figure bounced by much more. She is well on her way to a good opportunity and a commission. Well Done Ashley, Great Job !!!

"Awesome response time. Within 15 minutes we were working!"

- Kevin, The Lakes, NV on 4/17/14

"In a word, Rich was phenomenal!"

"Amazing tutor!"

- Charlene, North Las Vegas, NV on 8/27/13
Richard replied on 8/27/2013

Charlene had gotten into bad shape in the course. She just needed a little better process and some guidance regarding the concepts that were eluding her.

Once she was pointed in the right direction, the path to success was obvious. Charlene Passed with flying colors!!!

"Meet and greet"

- Lisa, Las Vegas, NV on 8/22/12
Richard replied on 10/7/2013

I provided a complete, in-depth analysis session leading to a full understanding of the expected results. I included the student and the organization in the process.

Program was halted after the organization discovered that the student was a beginner rather than an intermediate as originally thought.

Very strange termination methods for such a seemingly well organized organization.

"Finishes the job he started"

- Kahmien, North Las Vegas, NV on 10/16/11
Richard replied on 11/20/2011

Kahmien was a very well spoken student. In a rush, he found me on the site and enlisted my help within minutes. Since he was in a rush and had only a few things to learn to achieve his objective, I offered remote PC-to-PC support through a program I use in my professional endeavors over the net. He accepted the challenge and we were off to the races. The originally discussed time estimate came and went when a specific MS Office feature failed to perform for me (using section marks to protect further formatting in MS WORD.) Kahmien calmly agreed to another session. I provided extra effort, in the form of a template to allow him to appreciate his extra efforts again and again.

"Excellent tutor"

- Vallery D, North Las Vegas, NV on 6/5/11
Richard replied on 11/20/2011

Vallery is an excellent student and now a fine MBA graduate. She is another recent student that sought my help to finish that “last sticky class” to graduate. Vallery set the pace, established the rules of engagement, and constantly over-achieved her way to success. Vallery completed her coursework and has graduated in fine form.

"5-Stars for Richard H."

- James, Las Vegas, NV on 5/18/11
Richard replied on 11/20/2011

James was very easy to help. He was open to listen, contemplate, and synthesize new information. When I consider this effort, I remember how methodically James approached my services. He took complete and meticulous advantage of the student discount, managing his time budget every step of the way. Once one aspect of the project was complete, he aptly listened to praise and critique, and then as if a switch was hit he was ready to move on. In every way, James gave me as much fulfillment as any of my recent students. I cannot imagine how far he may go in life with his mindset and approach.

"Ecxellent Excel Tutor"

- Bernard, Henderson, NV on 4/24/11
Richard replied on 11/20/2011

Bernard is just one of my recent success stories. He listened well, he stood up to my requests to show new skills in the line of study and produced results according to plan. When Bernard finished his efforts successfully, he realized the additional benefits I provide at every turn. Bernard’s passion to learn added up to a complete formula for a successful tutoring engagement, indeed.

"Richard H"

- Blanche, Boulder City, NV on 12/24/10
Richard replied on 11/20/2011

Blanche challenged my expertise and ability to present extremely high level material regarding MS Excel. We learned early on, that she needed to specify her own advanced curriculum. She went on to describe needs that exceeded our ability to communicate, so we invented a new process through trial and error that worked very well. Blanche and I found several new features of the latest MS Excel program that I had experienced in earlier versions and now saw that their functionality was greatly improved. Together, we learned a great deal about very advanced MS Excel, while she learned how to express her needs better during every session.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ASVAB

I am uniquely qualified to coach the taking of the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery Exams. I scored all 99's (there are no 100s) on the exam here in Clark county, Nevada as part of my scholastic career.

Study guides that are available are required and should be purchased prior to enlisting help, but you may just need a little help to conquer a particular subject or remember to address a detail in proper fashion.

The ASVAB are an all day ordeal and preparation must include the ability to organize your thoughts and manage your pace, too.

Business

I am a twice seasoned veteran entrepreneur, business executive and venture analyst. I earned an Executive MBA from University of Phoenix with honors.

I have managed P&L and Financial Statements for over a decade. I have a deep respect for the business ciricula and look forward to discussing Marketing, Management, and certain aspects of Financial Accounting in depth or at a topical level.

I am a viable sounding board for thesis work, senior projects, or full-on business plans as well.

Separately, I am an expert automation developer for Easy Language in the TradeStation Financial Market analysis and trading system. I support large quantitative application requiring large, multiple screen systems. See general computing specialty for details about my experience developing those big computer systems.

C

Puzzles, conundrums, theroems, axioms, and hypothesis all lead to developing a useful toolbox of solutions that can be applied throughout any complex and/or simple single task. I look forward to helping you meet these challenges as well.

Computer Science

I am skilled at helping students of computer science. The discipline requires a bold and brave statement about learning, psychology, logic, organization, timing, grace, elegance, math symbology, and many other diverse traits. The computer scientist will be the only other person to know almost everything about the subject material at hand since they had to write the programs and develop the specific knowledge in such a way as to train a computer to help.

In direct relation, the computer scientist must craft their toolbox used throughout a career. Included is data structures, state machines, formal languages, finite automata, virtualization, and other directly related material to better understand the "cyberclay" used to build useful tools.

I enjoy helping anyone aspiring to succeed in this area of learning.

Desktop Publishing

I have used MS Publisher and various graphical programs to adapt information of all kinds to various printable formats. The challenges faced when realizing the choices made reflect the choices being presented now and so on make up the give and take forum that is the publishing media.

General Computer

Looking at computers as tools, makes us realize that they are comprised of specific elements similar to home theater systems. Specialized devices handle specific tasks. Also, certain programs handle the basic computer operations, too. When it is understood at a basic level, the computer stops being so mystical and begins to be the tool it is meant to be. I look forward to helping you understand computers to make them friendly tools for your use.

I am also a personal computer builder, having developed several machines from simple single core Pentiums to massive, multiscreen(up to 12) machines with multiple graphics cards, and quad core processors. I have also written PASCAL for many systems on Control Data and VAX mainframes.

Also, due to the close facsimile to PASCAL, I have written many programs in TradeStation EASY LANGUAGE that is used to automate trading indications and actual executions. A good Coach and Mentor for improving study skills, my target age range are people from 6th grade on up. I assess all aspects of study including: attitude, posture, environment, content and methods.
Study skills are best evaluated when facing your most difficult subject material. By training yourself to deal with the most challenging issues first, these skills translate even easier to
application for easier subject material.
