When have you learned enough? NEVER!
I believe that learning is an ongoing adventure and is always a two-way conversation. As a teacher for 25 years, I know I have learned at least as much from my students as I have taught them. And I believe that anyone can improve as long as there is a will to do so. I approach each student as a unique individual with a unique learning style. In my teaching experience, I've learned to recognize small steps and celebrate them.
I hold an M.S. from the University of New Mexico, in the area of Speech and Language Pathology. Along the way, I gained a strong working knowledge of linguistic methods and have used my advanced degree in diverse ways. While in the Albuquerque area, I joined partnership with Indian Education and composed 30 regional children's readers to be used in the elementary schools in several pueblo villages. I practiced as a speech/language pathologist for 7 years, and worked with ESL students in both oral and written language. At the University of Southern Colorado, I taught English composition to freshmen. Now in Santa Fe I am looking for students who are motivated to perform at a high level in writing, reading, or understanding the written word.
I would love to work with you if you feel I offer those talents and qualities that will enhance your education.
