Hello,

I am an experienced teacher of English and of Guitar. I am a patient, encouraging teacher and will always try to make the lessons fun and very useful. I can work with all levels of students. I have taught both classes and private lessons in the US, in New York, as well as overseas in Japan and Thailand.

For English students I offer reading, writing, vocabulary building, English as a Second Language, conversation practice, proofreading, and editing.

For Guitar students I offer song learning, chords and scales, picking exercises, rhythm study - shuffle, funk, swing - solo playing, comping. I play jazz, blues, funk, soul and pop and am happy to help you with any style you are interested in. Don't worry - I have played rock too! We can study the songs you want to learn. I can teach beginners, intermediate students and advancing ones. I have been playing for over 25 years (gasp). I can help you make progress quickly.

If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Guitar

I've spent 25 years teaching and playing blues, jazz, pop, r&b etc. I'm a patient and flexible teacher who wants to help you get where you want to with the guitar.

Music History

I'm still fascinated by the development of music, especially Western music. Particular periods and subjects of interest include the development of the guitar and piano, Baroque composers, Bach, Scarlatti, Brahms, development of folk and blues music in the US, different blues traditions (Texas, Chicago, Mississippi), jazz through the 20th century...I could go on! Let's study together.
