My name is Greg. I have tutored history and political science at the college level for about two years. I am a CRLA (College Reading and Learning Association) master level tutor. I was awarded with this certification in November 2011.
Besides history and political science, I have extensive experience with English Lit, with over twenty credit hours from my years at Eastern New Mexico University. I am also a member of Zeta Pi (ENMU's history honors chapter of Pi Alpha Theta), and I will be soon admitted into Phi Kappa Phi (membership based on GPA). I also have three years experience with Koine Greek (often referred to as Biblical Greek) and I have been awarded the Zondervan Award for Biblical Greek (Apr. 2011).
My tutoring style is rather simple. I believe students are able to learn the information by reviewing notes, textbooks and being able to see images of what they are learning about. I also help explain terms a student struggles with and-- in many cases--help cutaway confusion on things pertaining to a particular subject in history. Many of my tutoring sessions will include the use of maps; images of how people dressed or used particular pieces of technology; art (usually images of famous sculptures, paintings, mosaics or even music); and primary source documents. By combining all of these things, I have successfully tutored over three hundred students at the college level.
