Hi There, Susan here. I am very knowledgeable in tutoring chemistry. I would love to help your student if she/he is struggling in chemistry. Chemistry is mostly math, so finding out the key on how to do this math will help open the door to knowing how to do chemistry.

Organic Chemistry

I have taken the courses: Organic Chemistry I (level 220), Organic Chemistry II (level 221), and Intermediate Organic Chemistry (a graduate level class-416). I received a B overall in all three classes. I tutored a couple of students in Organic Chemistry in college. In Organic Chemistry I, we covered "functional groups, nomenclature, resonance, inductive and steric effects, stereochemistry, carbonyl chemistry", and the overall "nature of organic reactions". The laboratory focused on the "microscale of synthetic techniques, gas chromatography, and infrared and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy"(NMR). The class met three times a week with a laboratory once a week (for a college semester (15 weeks)). In Organic Chemistry II, we covered "addition, substitution, and elimination reactions, molecular rearrangements, aromaticity, carbohydrates and heterocyclic chemistry". In this class, the laboratory again focused on "microscale organic synthesis" which included work in infrared and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), and GC/MS (gas chromatography/mass spectroscopy). This class met three times a week with a laboratory once a week (for a college semester (15 weeks)). In Intermediate Organic Chemistry, this graduate class stressed the "synthetic organic chemistry at an intermediate level". This class met three times a week for a semester (15 weeks).
