I have two years experience as a part-time instructor at the University of Nevada Las Vegas teaching ear training and music theory, and a lifetime of music study to share with students at any level in their studies.

I have a degree in music history, and studied English literature at the graduate level. I keep a blog and consistently scored well on all types of reading/writing exams.

I lived abroad in Sarajevo, Bosnia, and understand the needs of ESL speakers. I'm very interested in assisting international students and other ESL speakers with improving their accent and English vocabulary. I love learning about new cultures, and sharing my own!

See my official musician bio below, and please don't hesitate to contact me with any questions.

Erin is currently playing fourth horn for the Florida Grand Opera and Palm Beach Symphony, and is freelancing in Miami and New York City. She recently returned to the United States after spending the 2012-2013 season in Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina playing fourth horn for the Sarajevska Filharmonija. The Sarajevo Philharmonic supports the Bosnian National Theater, performing symphonic repertoire, opera and ballet throughout the season.

Prior to her appointment in Sarajevo, Erin was an active freelance musician in the Las Vegas area. She performed with the Las Vegas Philharmonic in the new Smith Center for the Performing Arts, and in Broadway shows on the Strip. She earned her Master of Music degree in horn performance from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 2012, studying with Bill Bernatis.

Erin has performed with a variety of summer festival orchestras, including the Ash Lawn Opera Orchestra, Franco-American Vocal Academy (Périgueux, France), Sewanee Summer Music Festival and Lake Tahoe Orchestral Academy.

Ear Training

I have two years experience teaching ear training as a part-time instructor at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. I taught MUS 102E, MUS 102F for majors and MUS 101 for non-majors. My students were considered remedial level, as they had to pass my course in order to begin the formal music major curriculum. I have high standards for my students, and set the passing grade at 80% with very good results. I am an advocate of movable "do," and was trained in the Kodaly method as an undergraduate.

General Music

I have a master of music degree in horn performance, and a bachelor of music degree in music history and horn performance. I am a professional musician, and am currently performing with the Florida Grand Opera and the Palm Beach Symphony. I spent a year abroad performing with the Sarajevo Philharmonic in Sarajevo Bosnia, and have been studying music since I was 8.

Macintosh

I've been a Mac user since 2005, and have advanced knowledge of the OS and maximizing efficiency with the apps and programs included with Mavericks. I regularly troubleshoot for friends and family, and have taught a number of friends how to do things with various programs.

Music History

I have a bachelor's degree in music history from the Hartt School, and my master's degree was academically more rigorous than the average music degree. I am well read and well versed in the nuances of Western music history, and have spent time studying ethnomusicology/world music as well.
