I obtained my Master of Arts degree in French from Middlebury College after an intensive, full immersion, year abroad in Paris, where I also took a certification course in Business French at Novancia and classes at l'Université de Paris III (La Sorbonne Nouvelle). I've also trained with the School for International Training in Toulouse, France. Some of my time, while studying for my Masters, was spent teaching English to French high-school students (equivalent of 1st year college in U.S.) on a political science track at the Lycée Paul Valery in Paris.
In the US, I administered the Decisions for Life curriculum, a Girl Scouts program, to middle school girls during teacher prep periods. That opportunity quickly turned into an offer to support students at a charter school in Philadelphia and later led me to accept a freelance tutoring post in New York City.
While working in publishing, I founded a lunchtime French tutoring program and instructed editors at Essence Magazine. Most of my career has been focused in the creative field and I think this has given me some unique experiences from which to draw-- a plus when working with students. I am happily married to an educator of 11 years with experience in both New York and New Jersey as a teacher, administrator and instructional coach.
