Empathetic Tutor for English, Literature, Writing and Singing

I have a B.A. in literature and Creative Writing and have written several plays that have been produced in New York. I am also a songwriter. My songs have been played on radio and on the internet around the world. I have worked with both adults in children teaching writing and English both privately and in the school system. I also have a certificate to teach ESL. I enjoy working with people and gain great satisfaction in seeing them develop their skills in their area of interest.

In the performing arts, I have been a singer, actor and voice teacher for over twenty- five years. My background includes ten years of classical training with Maestro Julio Berrocal, vocal technique through the Feldekrais approach with Marcy Lindhiemer. In acting I have studied with renowned Stanislavsky scholar Sonia Moore and prodigy of Method Master Strasberg, Marcia Haufrecht. I have acted in many Off Broadways shows and sung around the world. I believe we all have something distinctive that can be developed and expressed through the voice. I work to help the student discover their individual and unique sound. I give them the tools to gain ability and confidence in achieving their goals.

I empathize deeply with the challenges the student faces both in studying voice and performing since I have been a professional singer for many years. Through my personal experience in the field I will coach the student through the obstacles they may come up against. My students have gone on to become recording artists, to perform on Broadway, in National Tours; in cabarets, concerts, on radio and TV.

ESL/ESOL

I am certified by The American TESOL Institute to teach ESL. I have many hours of teaching both privately and in the class room working with students who speak a variety of languages. I also have hosted foreign language students in my home and I taught them up to four hours a day in English. I have a B.A. in literature.

Public Speaking

I have been an actress, singer and director for over twenty five years. I have studied acting with some of the top teachers in the field as well as speech at The H.B. Studio in New York City and with Eve Collye, an expert in her field. I have coached actors and non actors alike for auditions and public speaking engagements.
