I am currently a High School math teacher, and am well versed in all mathematics including Algebra I & II, Geometry, Trig and Calculus. I have successfully tutored students receiving instructional support and students taking AP courses. I have also tutored students preparing for the SAT and ACT exams.
Through the years, I have seen students do well in class, complete their homework, review the materials before an exam and yet, fail the test. This is because they are trying to memorize the information rather than understand the concepts and apply them appropriately. Students need to appreciate the significance of mathematics. My instruction begins with a brief discussion of how this math relates to everyday life. After the student grasps the meaning, then we can work together to obtain the knowledge and review the steps necessary to successfully solve the problem. This is a process that will result in better grades. With the commitment of time and desire from the student and my tutoring methods, success can be achieved.
