Early Childhood, Elementary and Special Education Tutor

I hold an undergraduate degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education and a Master's degree in Special Education. I have five years of teaching experience, ranging from Preschool-Fourth grade including Special Education. In addition, I have worked privately tutoring students for the past nine years at the elementary level in all subject areas. I consider myself a patient, enthusiastic, and creative person who is able to think "outside the box" in order to reach my students and meet their individual needs.

I will work closely with you, so you feel comfortable having me work with your child. Together, we can help your child succeed and feel confident in the classroom.

I hold a standard teaching certificate in Elementary Education and Early Childhood Education.

Phonics

Phonics is the study of letters and letter sounds in a language. When students learn that a specific letter makes a certain sound they are learning phonics and that 'tion' makes the sound /shun/, they are learning phonics. In phonics students learn letter identification, letter sounds, how to recognize sight words, letter blends, and prefixes and suffixes. Ultimately, students are learning to read and write.

Special Needs

I hold a Master's degree in Special Education from Montclair State University.

Autism

I hold a Master's degree in Special Education. In addition, I have 2 years of teaching experience working as a dedicated aide with students with autism and 1 year of teaching experience in a preschool disabled classroom working closely with students with autism.
