As a graduate student at UMDNJ School of Osteopathic Medicine, I have had experience with many different subject areas throughout my educational career. I have always loved the sciences and math, excelling in those through all grade levels and also developed an interest in writing and reading. I tutored various subsets of these subjects as an undergraduate at Richard Stockton College, including algebra, trigonometry, pre-calculus and subjects in the sciences including physiology, organic chemistry, general chemistry and other biological subjects. My strengths are in health science subjects and I can also offer tutoring to students who need practice developing their writing and oratory skills. As a tutor, I focus on the weaknesses and concepts that students are having trouble mastering. From there, we lay a good foundation for the material first before doing practice problems to assess how well the student grasped the content. I ask the student to practice again on their own and the next time we meet, we do a short assessment to see how well they understand it by having them explain/teach it to me. This has proven to be very effective and students have been successful in subjects they didn't understand before.
Students should observe and learn, do and practice on their own, and then teach it back --- this, I believe, is an effective learning method and I plan on using it with each student. I welcome all age groups and grade levels. I have flexible hours and can offer references if needed. Please feel free to contact me at any time and I look forward to working with you!
