Career Development

In each of the educational positions I have held over my career, I have counseled my students about how what they were learning in school applied to their career goals. For over 4 years, I worked as an environmental educator - teaching students aged 3 through senior citizens. For an additional 17 years, I was employed as a high school teacher where I taught students aged 11 through 30. For over 9 years, I worked as an assistant school principal and then for over 3 years, I was employed as a school principal. I always attempt to make my lessons applicable to real-life job situations.

College Counseling

For 17 years, I was employed as a high school teacher where I taught students aged 11 through 30. For over 9 years, I worked as an assistant school principal and then for over 3 years, I was employed as a school principal. In each of these positions, I counseled my students about how what they were learning in school applied to their career goals. I always attempted to make my lessons applicable to real-life job situations. I informed my students what college training that they may require to achieve their career path.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have a current New Jersey Elementary Teacher Certification, a New Jersey Physical Education Certification, and a New Jersey Supervisor/Principal Certification. I have over 33 years of teaching experience. As an assistant principal and then a principal, I observed and evaluated teachers for 11 years. I am employed as a home instruction tutor for a school system.

Fitness

I have a current New Jersey Physical Education Certification. I taught physical education to high school students for 18 years. I have also taught wellness classes to high school students and adults for 28 years. I worked as a personal trainer for Cuts Fitness for Men for over 2 years.

Social Studies

My undergraduate degree is in environmental studies. The premise is how humans are impacted by the decisions that they make in using the earth's resources. Environmental studies looks at the use of "real science" in the making of wise long-term decisions in land use. In making these choices, we must consider their impact on human behavior, politics, and the economy. In the past, I have taught social studies and American History to students preparing for the GED.

Study Skills

I have been a classroom teacher for over 17 years. I taught students who did not have a lot of success in the traditional school setting and had dropped out. I taught them a variety of different methods to study their school assignments. For my adult students, I taught them good study habits, in order to prepare them for taking for the GED test. My students had over a 80% pass rate on the GED - even though most of them had dropped out of school in the 10th grade and had not been in school in a very long time!!!!!

Swimming

In the past, I have been certified as an American Red Cross Advanced Lifeguard and Water Safety Instructor. Although I am not currently certified, I am full capable of teaching students how to swim. For over 8 years, I taught high school students how to swim - several went from non-swimmers to becoming such strong swimmers that they became lifeguards within 1 year.
